| Ethics and Corporate Policies
The ethics, policies, and norms of Olocity are critical to shaping
the evolution of the industry and our own success.
Culture
Since Olocity's very beginning our values have been guiding the
way we conduct our business. Hiring the right caliber of people
ensures our values will continue to be the foundation for every
action we take, and that our culture remains as open and communicative
as ever. Our culture and values have remained steadfast through
all of the changes the industry has brought. It is a strong testament
to the adaptability and resilience of our employees and continues
to be a key factor in Olocity's success.
We hire the best of the best to foster an environment of excitement,
energy and innovation. We have an entrepreneurial corporate culture
that encourages innovation and empowers employees to respond quickly
to strategic opportunities. We provide excellent working conditions,
benefits and employment opportunities, while our managers provide
mentoring, coaching and assistance through continuous learning opportunities
that encourage a drive for excellence. We focus on doing our very
best, and helping others to do so also.
At Olocity, our culture is also reflected in our commitment to
being more than just a valued provider of information managements
solutions, technology, and services and an exceptional place to
work. We're just as passionate about being a responsible, positively
contributing member of the communities in which we operate. To that
end, we strive to support our employees in the use of their time,
energy and financial resources to make their communities better
places in which to live.
Environment
Olocity recognizes that, by minimizing our environmental impact,
we can help to preserve our planet for future generations. We know
that the best way to do this is to concentrate on how we operate,
day in and day out. We have examined our operations and have implemented
programs to conserve energy, recycle paper, and conserve, recycle,
and reclaim water. For example, we have installed lighting sensors
and computer monitor controls that automatically shut down lights
and equipment when not in use.
In addition to saving us money, which is good for our business,
these efforts allow us to reduce our environmental footprint, which
is good for the planet.
Olocity is in the process of establishing concrete targets –
and ways to measure them – for several of our environmental
initiatives, which will enable us and our stakeholders to track
our progress in meeting these goals. We will update this site with
our goals and targets as they are established.
We are undertaking a review of all our operations to determine
our largest impacts in terms of energy use and greenhouse gas emissions.
We are also exploring how to reduce emissions associated with business
travel, employee commuting, and product transport.
An important component of environmental responsibility is energy
conservation. In June 2007, we installed a custom power profile
to all workstations around the world. This new system will automatically
place computers in standby mode after four hours of inactivity.
In addition to the work that has already been done, we are continuously
looking at new ways to make our data centers and our research-and-development
labs more energy-efficient. We will also reach out to our IT customers
to suggest steps they can take to reduce energy use at their facilities.
Reduce:Olocity's first priority is to achieve an overall reduction
in our use of resources, such as water and energy, and materials,
including paper and plastics. We take action on several fronts,
beginning with product design and manufacture and extending through
delivery to customers.
In addition to these initiatives, we reduce energy use with automatic
lighting and temperature controls and electronic metering, have
installed energy-efficient lighting in meeting rooms, and conserve
water through the use of bathroom and wash-basin sensors.
Reuse: The next step in Olocity's environmental program is to reuse
as many materials as possible. We have implemented a system with
our vendors to reuse cardboard packaging, shipping cartons, totes,
and other materials. Cardboard packaging is reused an average of
twelve to fifteen times before it is discarded.
Olocity also donates used equipment such as office furniture, mobile
phones, personal computers, safety shoes, and batteries to local
charities.
Recycle: After all steps have been taken to reduce and reuse materials
and resources, Olocity focuses on recycling. Recycling facilities
are available throughout the manufacturing site, and employees receive
training and ongoing reminders to separate waste. Our recycling
program has been so successful that Olocity was recently recognized
for reducing the amount of waste being sent to landfills from its
manufacturing site.
Code of Conduct
Ethics and integrity are the building blocks of Olocity’s
business success. We demand the highest degree of integrity and
trustworthiness from all our employees – starting with our
board of directors and management team and extending to every level
of our organization. The Olocity code of conduct clarifies the standards
of behavior that Olocity expects of its employees and guides employees
in making ethical decisions. It aligns our values with our business
practices and policies and provides a foundation for good governance.
Olocity is committed to creating and maintaining an environment
based on respect for the individual and to being a good corporate
citizen in every country and community in which it does business.
The Olocity Code of Conduct guides our business operations all over
the world. Everywhere we work, we apply the more stringent of either
local laws and regulations or the principles laid out in our code
of conduct. We require each employee to read the code of conduct,
take a training course that further illustrates code principles,
and to sign a statement acknowledging that they have received, read,
and agree to abide by the code As a private company, we recognize
our legal and ethical obligations. Olocity’s board adheres
to corporate-governance best practices. Olocity enjoys a reputation
for good governance policies and procedures.
Core Values: At Olocity, we have four core values
that are the foundation upon which we have built our company. These
values are innovation, action, customer-driven, and trust. These
values need to be expressed every
day in our relationships with our customers and with each other.
To continue to meet this commitment to our
customers, partners and other stakeholders, we must ensure our actions
always embody our core values, and that we maintain the highest
levels of ethical behavior:
• Innovation. We anticipate customer needs
and continuously develop new ways to add value to our customer relationships.
• Action. Our success as the industry leader
flows from our ability to move with decisiveness. We respond quickly
and continue to develop effective, proactive solutions.
• Customer-driven. We make it easy for customers
to do business with us. We build Olocity around our customers, not
our products.
• Trust. We keep our commitments and are
100 percent accountable for delivering what we promise. Each of
us, regardless of location or role, must build these values into
every action we take. Given the unique role we play in our customers'
lives, everyone must be committed to the highest degree of integrity
and trustworthiness. The Olocity Code of Conduct provides an overview
of the standards of behaviour that are expected of us globally,
and offers guidance in making personal and ethical decisions. It
aligns our values with our business practices and policies and provides
a foundation for good governance—which is also a legal requirement.
Our core values are the way we do business, and it is required
reading for everyone at Olocity. It provides all of us with a clear
set of expectations and responsibilities, and highlights the need
for each of us to act ethically, to build our company on mutual
trust and openness with each other, and to be forthright about our
promises, business behavior, and actions taken in the name of Olocity.
Public Policy
Olocity participates in shaping public policy around issues that
affect its industry, business, products, and customers. We partner
with business and trade organizations and work with local, regional,
and national lawmakers and government agencies to influence policy
and legislation.
Protection of Privacy/Personal Data: Olocity supports legislators’
effort to protect privacy. In the European Union (EU) where personal
data protection is of key importance to citizens, legislation on
personal data breach notification is being developed in order to
maximize on-line privacy. Olocity supports an independent EU Advisory
Body on Data Protection and Privacy and advocates for the widening
of notification obligation to include data brokers, banks and other
online service providers.
Spyware/ Adware: Olocity supports efforts to curb unwanted and
illicit spyware. We believe that anti-spyware legislation must be
carefully crafted in order to protect consumers yet still preserve
legitimate technologies. Policymakers, particularly in the United
States, continue to seek ways to address consumer complaints about
unsolicited commercial email, known as spam.
Intellectual Property: Every year, billions of dollars are lost
to software piracy, which is the illegal distribution and/or copying
of software for personal and/or business use. The harmful effects
of software piracy reach far beyond the software publisher. While
companies suffer a direct loss of sales, consumers also suffer because
companies are often forced to raise prices or cut research and development
funding to make up for revenue shortfalls due to piracy. Olocity
supports strengthening copyright protection for software, both in
digital and physical form. According to industry estimates, in 2004
the global market value of software piracy climbed to an astonishing
$33 billion. While piracy rates around the world have fallen modestly,
the total dollar value of pirated software continues to rise.
Employees
Olocity makes a positive impact on the lives of its employees by
promoting a culture of mutual trust, respect, personal achievement,
and individual leadership.
Culture of Responsibility: The very nature of
our business—assuring the security, availability, and integrity
of our customers' information—inspires a global culture of
responsibility. Our employees are guided by our code of conduct,
which ensures that a focus on integrity is embedded in our daily
interactions with our customers and each other, no matter where
we are in the world.
Diversity and Inclusion: Olocity defines diversity
as all of the differences that make each of us a unique individual.
Our ability to attract, retain, and fully engage diverse talents
leads to enhanced innovation and creativity in our products. As
such, we recognize that a continuing commitment to inclusive hiring
practices is a business imperative tied directly to our bottom line.
We offer a variety of programs to teach our own employees how to
conduct business successfully in a multicultural and multiethnic
world. New employees receive diversity training as part of their
orientation. Olocity is proud to support activities that increase
access to educational and career opportunities for historically
disadvantaged populations. Olocity recognizes the unique challenges
women face in the engineering field and is working to create an
environment that allows them to thrive both personally and professionally.
Employee Development: Olocity believes that in
order to attract talented individuals who will be able to create
the most innovative and effective products, we must support employees’
personal and professional development. Our robust employee development
program offers a curriculum that is applied globally across all
functions. The program enhances employees’ business, technical,
and interpersonal skills and enables them to excel in their chosen
career paths. We combine instructor-led and e-learning classes to
ensure that our people can reach their maximum professional potential.
Olocity has implemented various programs to provide employees with
assistance in balancing work with personal and family obligations.
We believe that alternate schedules and telecommuting can be useful
tools in managing the demands of work and home while enhancing employee
productivity. We encourage employees to work with their managers
to arrange personalized telecommuting options and flexible hours.
Health and Safety: Olocity takes very seriously
the health and safety of its employees. We have implemented a suite
of programs designed to help employees to avoid unsafe situations
and respond to accidents, disasters, and medical emergencies.
Volunteerisum: We strongly encourage our employees
to volunteer in their local communities, both during and outside
of work hours. |
