TestIM
TestIM is the most efficient command line facility for the development, testing, and demonstration of CIM/WBEM/SMI-S management systems ever built and is uniquely capable of increasing the interoperability of solutions. This client side tool is designed with the extensibility to span the spectrum of CIM/WBEM management technologies available in the industry. TestIM is unique in that it:
Is designed to be CIM/WBEM management protocol independent (can run CIM/XML, WS-Man, etc.)
Is Client library agnostic for each management protocol. For example, testing over the CIM-XML protocol may be performed using the Pegasus, SFCB, or other client libraries from a variety of open source projects.
Has a custom designed command line interface syntax optimized for the CIM/WBEM environment. This CLI provides a single intuitive, easy-to-use, and scriptable interface that provides developers and testers groundbreaking efficiency. In specific TestIM supports multiple CLI modes to accommodate varying end-user expertise levels. In interactive mode, all the user needs to know is what type of operations they want to perform - described as 'commands'. (e.g., 'get' vs 'create') and TestIM automatically provides usage information including any relevant 'subcommands’ (e.g., 'get instance'). The TestIM CLI interface will also display usage documentation for the arguments for a specified subcommand. A user can either specify the full set of command/subcommand/arguments, or interactively enter the required and desired optional arguments.
Is a single extensible tool capable of traversing the complete functionality of a CIM/WBEM server. All WBEM operations will with time be incorporated in a single testing environment.
Provides rapid command line interaction conveniences like identifying CIM instance names and class path information via shortcuts (i.e. nick names) rather than verbose sets of arguments/values. This provides the user with context for more quickly and easily referencing the output from one operation by a shortcut and potentially as input to a subsequent operation. This feature removes the need for a lot of time consuming manual cut/paste operations.
Provides added-value services like persisting and managing connection information to WBEM Servers.
