VirtualIM
VirtualM: Is a monitoring tool
for server virtualization systems and high availability clustering
technology being designed around the new CIM based management interface
standard developed by the virtualization community and donated to
the DMTF. VirtualIM is intended for use by the IT Vendor community for developing management solutions. The internal object model in VirtualIM mirrors the object
model of the specification being augmented by the Clustering, Virtualization,
and Partitioning Work Group of the DMTF. VirtualIM is the first cluster/virtualization configuration and resource
monitoring tool in the industry to be built upon this emerging industry
standard. As a result VirtualIM will support virtualization and
clustering products across the vendor community with a high degree
of interoperability and reliability. StorageIM uses the highly scalable
xIM architecture as its core and thus, can be rapidly expanded with
new capabilities.
VirtualIM is being designed to inform you of problems before your clients,
end-users or managers do. The monitoring daemon runs intermittent
checks on services you specify using "plugins" which return
status information. Status information, historical logs, and reports
can all be accessed via any web browser. VirtualIM IM currently
supports VMware ESX server technology and is being expanded to include
other open source and proprietary products.
